The Osage Nation has announced the purchase of three downtown Pawhuska commercial properties including the historic First National Bank building.

The tribe says the purchase also includes the former Irby's Pharmacy next door and and former Hernandez Mexican restaurant next to the Black Gold motel down the street.

The Osage Nation already has offices in the four-story bank building which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The tribe says the purchase price was $272,283.

The Osage Nation says the purchase makes good sense.

“We need to start paying ourselves rent instead of other people,” said Chief Standing Bear.

The tribe says the former restaurant is scheduled for a structural inspection to determine if can repaired or should be leveled.
