3.5 Magnitude Quake Rumbles In Major County

Residents near the town of Fairview, Okla., in Major County, were jolted by an earthquake early Monday afternoon.

A 3.5 magnitude quake struck at 2:50 p.m., two miles west of Fairview, or about 79 miles northwest of the Oklahoma City metro, at a depth of about eight and a half miles. 

No damage or injuries have been reported with this quake.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes of 4.0 and higher.
