The Oklahoma Department of Corrections said they are easing the lockdown conditions for most prisoners at Cimarron Correctional Facility following a fight that left four inmates dead.

The fight was between two gangs: the Universal Aryan Brotherhood and the Irish Mob, according to a news release from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

Known associates and members of those two gangs will remain under lockdown, Director Robert Patton said.

“Rumors and speculations of disturbances at other facilities across the state on the evening of Sept. 12 being connected to the Cimarron altercation remain under investigation, and we hope to have answers to these questions soon," he said.

Anthony Fulwilder, Michael Mayden, Kyle Tiffee and Christopher Tignor died as a result of the September 12, 2015, riot. All were stabbed to death.

Patton said he has toured the privately owned facility three times since the deadly fight broke out, and he is pleased with the progress of the investigation and the staff's efforts to ensure a safe workplace.

Cimarron is run by Corrections Corporation of America, which operates more than 60 prisons nationwide - four in Oklahoma. News On 6 spoke to a family member of an inmate who said the Oklahoma Department of Corrections is transferring gang members from public prisons to private prisons like Cimarron, making those facilities more dangerous.

She said gang members target inmates who aren't in the gangs.
