A little Owasso boy who got severely burned in an accident is getting a lot of support from the community.

Thursday is Owasso’s Homecoming Week, and the community is using that as a way to show support for the boy’s family by dedicating one of the parade floats to him.

Those watching the homecoming parade will see several signs that say "Pray for Major." He's an 18-month-old boy who suffered bad burns in an accident at home.

Both of his brothers play football for Owasso, so when their teams heard about the accident they stepped up to help.

Word spread quickly of 18-month-old Major Ogg's accident Tuesday night. The toddler has second and third-degree burns over a fifth of his body after he grabbed a pot full of boiling water, and it scalded him.

Both of Major's older brothers play football - one in third grade, one in tenth - and their teammates were quick to show their support.

"They are all praying for Major. We got pictures of kids praying when they found out about the news. It brings tears to your eyes when you see stuff like that," said Owasso third grade coach, BJ Winton.

Winton is a close friend of the Ogg family and said he and assistant coach Dustin Baldwin felt this was a teaching moment for their players that family sticks together.

"Major's part of our family, I mean his brother's on the team, therefore Major's on the team. His whole family is," Baldwin said.

That's why the team decided to dedicate their float to little Major, to bring attention to the family's need for donations and support.

Because, while Major may not be part of their team yet, they said he is a member of their family.

Baldwin said, “This right here teaches the kids to step up and help, you know when others are down or in need."

Winton said, "It makes me proud to be part of Owasso."

We're told Major had his first surgery Thursday and responded very well to the treatment.
