A former OU student’s basketball inspired campaign to help the National Kidney Foundation is gaining popularity.

Clay Quinn has a unique talent of being able to make a backwards half-court shot.

For the next 30 days, he’s pledged to make a half-court shot every day and raise money.

“I try to give a different theme or idea,” says Quinn.

You can watch as he shoots blindfolded, in a Mexican wrestling mask, in OU gear on game day, and from the seat of riding lawnmower.

The screams of celebration that come after a made basket have made the campaign very entertaining for people following online.

Clay is more than half way done with his campaign on Crowdrise.com and already he’s earned more than $10,000.

His goal is $30,000.

The idea was inspired by his mom and dad.

Clay’s father suffers from type 1 diabetes.

“We’ve known for a long time that he’s going to need a kidney transplant,” says Quinn, who calls his campaign “Quinning4kidneys”.

His father underwent successful transplant surgery on Sept. 1, and Clay’s mother was the donor.

At Heritage Hall in OKC, Clay performed one of his daily shots in OKC Thunder gear.

“Hopefully it will catch on nationally and we’ll just quadruple it,” says Clay.

You can watch the videos and donated at Quinn’s Crowdrise site.
