It's Election Day In Seven Eastern Oklahoma Counties

Voters from Pocola to Copan are casting ballots Tuesday on several issues ranging from sales tax proposals to school bond issues.

Polls in Craig, Creek, LeFlore, Pittsburg, Sequoyah, Tulsa and Washington counties are open until 7 p.m. 

In Craig County, Vinita Public Schools are asking for approval of a $4,780,000 construction bond issue.

Bristow Public Schools have a $3,975,000 construction bond issue on the ballot in Creek County. 

In LeFlore County, Pocola Public Schools are asking voters to approve a $5,080,000 construction bond issue to fund a new multipurpose center for the district.

In Pittsburg County, voters in Hartshorne are deciding on approval of a 25-year PSO franchise agreement with the city.  And the City of McAlester wants to make a 3/4-cent sales tax permanent, with the money raised to go toward street projects and related infrastructure work.
The town of Gore in Sequoyah County is asking to raise the current 3-percent sales tax to 4-percent.  The city says the additional funds will be used to raise the town's Insurance Safety Office (ISO) rating and allow it to make street improvements.

In Tulsa County, Owasso Public Schools have two propositions on the ballet. The district is asking voters to approve a $20,700,000 construction bond issue and a $2,130,000 transportation bond issue.  And the City of Sand Springs is asking voters to approve 0.45-percent of the pre-existing Vision 2025 sales taxes be to dedicated to public safety and 0.10-percent to be dedicated to economic development.

And in Washington County, Bartlesville voters are being asked to approve a proposal to increase the current sales tax rate from 8.5 percent to 8.9 percent to fund city operations.  Also on the ballot is a proposal to extent the Bartlesville's 1/4 percent economic development sales tax for five more years.

The City of Dewey is asking residents to extend the city's 1-cent sales tax for 10 more years. Copan voters are being asked to make the town's clerk and treasurer appointed positions. And Caney Valley Public Schools has two propositions on the ballot.  One calls for a $1,170,000 construction bond issue and the other a $210,000 transportation bond issue. will post the results starting at 7 p.m.
