The City of Tulsa is working to end homelessness.

City leaders hope with the first phase of the Zero 2016 campaign, every homeless veteran will have somewhere to live by the end of the year.

There are 22 housing facilities in the city, filled with people who used to be homeless.

"If we can show by our example, the great things that we have accomplished, the great things that we're doing here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If they can replicate that in other cities, then that helps the entirety of our country,” Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett said.

City leaders say the goal of the second phase of the plan is to have zero people living on the streets of Tulsa by the end of 2016.
