Police Connect Tulsa County Jail Inmate To Downtown Homicide

Early Tuesday, police added a complaint of first-degree murder to a man who is currently in the Tulsa County jail.

Early Tuesday, police added a complaint of first-degree murder to a man who is currently in the Tulsa County jail.  

Police say Kerry Payne, 33, is suspected in the death of a 54-year-old man found shot to death near downtown Tulsa on October 3.

Payne is in jail charged with three counts of shooting with intent to kill after shots were fired during a fight at a barbershop in the Springdale Shopping Center on North Lewis on October 2. One of the victims was a 10-year-old boy.

Police believe Payne is connected to the death of Jeffrey Alexander of Tulsa the same day. Alexander's body was found at Admiral and Phoenix on October 3.

Jail records show Payne is being held without bond.  Alexander's death was Tulsa's 44th homicide of the year.
