MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma - Police investigated a homicide at a Muskogee apartment complex Wednesday morning.

Police say they found a body inside an apartment closet that was nailed shut.

They arrested Jackie Keen near the apartments, at Boomarang Diner on Peak Drive and Cherokee, after patrol officers noted a truck matching the description of one allegedly involved in the death.

Keen confessed to the murder, according to a Muskogee police officer.

Investigators said Keen and the victim lived in the same apartment complex at Peak and Cherokee, and the landlord checked on the apartment because he believed there to be drug issues ongoing there. The landlord told police when he went to the victim's apartment, Keen begged him not to open the closet.

Police said the closet was nailed shut and Keen then reportedly blurted out to the landlord that he was the killer. The man's body was discovered in a closet partially covered with clothes and blankets, police said.

During questioning, Keen told investigators he hammered the victim to death, investigators told News On 6. Investigators said the two men were acquaintances through the drug world, more specifically, crystal meth.

Neighbor Brandy Cacy is disturbed by the case.

"Were they friends?"

"Yeah, they talked all the time. They were constantly around each other. I'd heard them argue a few times here and there, but nothing too, too dramatic."

Police say when they found the victim, he was wrapped in clothes, blankets and sheets. Someone at the complex called 911, and police made the quick arrest.

Police say Keen even told them where he tossed the murder weapon -- a hammer, in a yard nearby.

"They were both into drugs. I don't really hang around them much because of the factor that they're druggies and stuff," Cacy said.

Police are not releasing the victim's identity but say Keen is continuing to cooperate.

The medical examiner determine the cause and manner of death.
