Dump Truck Driver Electrocuted Near Turley

Officials say when the man raised the bed of his truck to dump a load of rock, the truck became energized by the power lines and then he made contact with the truck and the ground.

A dump truck driver who lifted his bed which then came in contact with a power pole in Turley has died, according to the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

A man who lives nearby noticed his electricity flicker so he ran outside and found the driver slumped over the door of the truck. He pulled the man from the truck and began CPR. 

As soon as they arrived, EMSA paramedics took over then took the man to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. 

The incident happened just after 1 p.m. on Thursday near 66th Street North and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The Tulsa Fire Department said the believe the man raised the bed of his truck to dump a load of rock, the truck became energized by the power lines and then the man made contact with the truck and the ground.

TCSO said the driver was the only person at the work site and no one saw what happened. They haven't released his name but say he was in his 60s. They're working to notify his family.
