Oklahoma State fell behind by 17 points on three different occasions in the first half. But second half adjustments and an expanded package for backup quarterback J.W. Walsh made the difference.

The touchdown to James Washington was a key play that helped seal another Cowboys victory. “Mike and them felt like that the safety was getting down into the formation, and so they called for James on the post. And it worked out well for our team,” said Mike Gundy.

“When I saw it, I looked at the safeties, and was like, ok,” Walsh added. “I just told myself to give him a chance even if the corner was kind of draped all over him. James is one of those guys who goes and gets the ball. And so I told myself just give him a chance and he did the rest.”

When the play was called Washington knew what he needed to do. “I was just hoping my team would execute like they always do. Coaches know what they're doing. So, when he called it, just got to execute on my number,” he explained.

Defensive adjustments also worked. The Cowboys tackled better as they shut out Tech in the 3rd quarter after giving up 38 first half points.

In all, Texas Tech only gained 177 second half yards. And the Cowboys moved to 8-0 heading into November undefeated.
