An 80-year-old Spiro man is dead after he fell overboard on his boat at Lake Tenkiller on Saturday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says.

According to an OHP report, Glenn A. Vaughn was on a stationary boat near the shoreline in the Chicken Creek area about 1:45 p.m.

Approximately 20 minutes after a witness saw Vaughn throwing an anchor into the water, he was nowhere to be found, so the witnesses went toward the boat and spotted Vaughn in the water approximately 40 yards out, the report says.

The witnesses pulled Vaughn into their boat and attempted to revive him.

He was pronounced dead when Cherokee Nation EMS arrived, OHP says.
