The No. 17/18 Oklahoma women’s basketball team stumbled 61-57 against North Texas on Monday night at the Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners (1-1) got off to a sluggish start, with North Texas opening the game on a 10-2 run after OU turned the ball over on its first four possessions. The Mean Green (1-1) shot 43 percent from the field in the first half to just 28 percent from the Sooners and outrebounded OU 22-19 to take a 35-29 lead into halftime.

The Sooners tied the game twice with less than two minutes remaining. Despite the Sooner rally, North Texas responded with points of its own after each instance and got enough stops down the stretch to seal the win.

North Texas outshot Oklahoma 42 percent to 31 percent on the night and also edged the Sooners on the boards 44 to 40.

Redshirt junior guard Peyton Little led all scorers with 17 points on 6 of 14 shooting while pulling down five rebounds. Redshirt senior forward Kaylon Williams registered her first double-double of the year with 11 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Vionise Pierre-Louis also added in 10 points off the bench.

Junior guard Terra Ellison paced the Mean Green with 15 points while shooting 6 of 16 from the field. Four players scored in double figures for the Mean Green.
