McAlester School Board Extends Superintendent's Suspension

The McAlester Public School board has extended the paid suspension of school Superintendent Dr. Marsha Gore and her husband, Joseph Gore, Plant Operations Manager.

The McAlester News-Capital reports the school board voted Monday night to continue the suspensions without a time limit.  

On November 16, the board voted suspend the Gores and begin termination proceedings.

The decision came after an almost month-long investigation into complaints that Dr. Marsha Gore and her husband, Joseph Gore, misused district money, which put the district in serious financial despair.  

The Gores have denied the allegations.

The school board's attorney said he will mail written notifications to the Gores and they will have 10 days after receiving the notices to request a public hearing.
