Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here comes everything nasty about the weather.

5 p.m. update

The Ice Storm Warning for western Oklahoma continues until noon Saturday. The Winter Storm Watch in central Oklahoma has been REPLACED with a Travel Advisory from noon Friday until noon Saturday.

The primary impacts in OKC are LIGHT ice accumulations on elevated and exposed surfaces with some slick spots on the roads. A few power outages are possible as well.

Earlier Thursday:

Showers have already begun across the viewing area. These will increase in coverage and become heavier as the day moves along. The cold front stretches from west-central to northwest Oklahoma and will move slowly southeast throughout the day. Look for it in OKC around 6 or 7 p.m.

Winter precipitation will begin in northwest Oklahoma later Thursday afternoon into the evening. Road conditions will deteriorate overnight in northwest Oklahoma.

Temperatures will drop to and below freezing in western Oklahoma Friday morning and stay there throughout the day. Some early morning data still suggests anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice throughout western Oklahoma. This is likely to cause lots of power outages and very hazardous road conditions.

Friday night into Saturday morning will be a very close call as to how much ice, if any, we see in the Metro. Should we have ice, it would be on the west side of OKC and happen overnight Friday into Saturday morning. We should rise enough above freezing Saturday afternoon for any ice to melt.
