BEDLAM: News On 6, News 9 On Quarterback Health, Weather Impact

Thanks to Baylor's loss to TCU Friday night, Saturday’s Bedlam game is now for the outright Big 12 Championship.

Let's start with the Cowboys and News On 6 Sports Director John Holcomb’s perspective from Stillwater.

The winner takes home the conference title, and likely a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The big story from OSU’s side is the health of quarterback Mason Rudolph. 

He apparently sustained a foot injury in the Cowboys loss to Baylor last week and was spotted wearing a boot after the game. It's believed that Rudolph did practice this week and is going to give it a go tonight, but J.W. Walsh will probably get the majority of the offensive snaps. 

Aside from that, Oklahoma State may be in need of a spark coming off its first loss of the season.

Last night at the team hotel, at the instant of TCU's upset of Baylor was complete, the players on the 4th floor erupted. The players ran out of their rooms, hollering at each other, “Let's go, Let's go.” Not sure how much that will have an impact tonight, but it might be just the jolt this team needs after the disappointing loss last week. 

Bedlam rivalry, yes that's one thing, but the extra shot could help the Cowboys as they look to pull off the upset and win the Big 12 title.

Now let's go to News 9’s Dean Blevins, with more on the OU perspective.

The two most relevant game-time keys are the health of the starting quarterbacks and the impact of the weather.

As for the quarterbacks, the ankle injury to Mason Rudolph against Baylor has him less than 100 percent.

J.W. Walsh should be a key player in the outcome of the game. If he throws it well enough in these conditions, especially if he can hit a couple of deep throws, OSU has a great chance at the upset.

For OU, Baker Mayfield got in a full week of practice after suffering a concussion in the first quarter against TCU. The critical question is: How will he respond when his head/helmet get banged either by a player or the ground? Based on last week, the Sooners can't like its chances if Mayfield can't play a complete game. If he can, Mayfield is the main reason OU is a seven-point favorite on the road.

As for weather, the field should not be a big problem as it handles water well and is actually not very wet.

Cold temperatures make it a tad uncomfortable for the players, especially if they get wet, but it is not significant.
