Oklahoma State, despite stumbling to the finish line, did enough to earn a trip to the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.

The Cowboys, which began the season 10-0 before losing its last two, will play Ole Miss (9-3) in a Big 12-SEC showdown. The Rebels were the only team to beat Alabama this season, and they did it in Tuscaloosa.

OSU qualifies for the bowl thanks to Baylor's loss to Texas on Saturday. The Bears, stuck playing with their fourth-string QB, fell to the Longhorns and in the process, slipped out of second place in the Big 12. OSU and TCU each have two losses, but the Cowboys' win over the Frogs in Stillwater gives the Pokes the tiebreaker.

The matchup will feature two bigtime quarterback/wide receiver combos. Ole Miss features QB Chad Kelly, who threw for more than 3,700 yards and 27 touchdowns. Kelly’s top target is Laquon Treadwell, perhaps the best wideout in the country. Treadwell hauled in 76 balls for 1,082 yards and eight touchdowns this season.

OSU’s Mason Rudolph, assuming he can play after undergoing foot surgery, will likely play on Sundays one day. Rudolph threw for more than 3,500 yards while splitting time with senior J.W. Walsh. Rudolph’s go-to guy is James Washington, who finished with 1,077 yards and 10 scores.

Kickoff time from New Orleans is set for 7:30 p.m.
