It was a triumphant turnaround at the Crawley home in Wellston.

“Things are getting better and I’m so excited. I’m just so grateful,” Jamie Crawley said.

Jamie and her husband Richard were a day away from becoming homeless right before the holidays.

Their home was set to be sold on the courthouse steps after they'd fallen behind on their mortgage.

“In life, sometimes you have those dark valleys and shadows and that was definitely one of those dark valleys and shadows,” she said a week before Thanksgiving.

Richard became an amputee in 2013 and Jamie also has health issues. They were awaiting disability.

The Crawleys care for six children. Five are adopted with special needs and one has a terminal illness.

News 9 shared their story in November and almost instantly, the couple who constantly gives, started to receive.

“Just within hours the GoFundMe amount started going,” Jamie Crawley said.

About $15,000 was donated in less than a day, giving the Crawley enough to be current on their mortgage.

“Oh my goodness, we’re so grateful,” she repeated.

But it didn't stop there.

“Just a couple days later, we got his disability approval in the mail so Thanksgiving was a huge blessing for us this year,” Jamie Crawley said.

And thanks to the swift actions of strangers and generous gifts, the Crawley's can now plan on another huge blessing this year: Christmas in their home.

“I can’t even put it into words,” she said.

Normal payments will resume in January for their home, and they'll be able to handle them now that Richard's disability will be coming in.
