Two Arrested For Breaking Into Tulsa Home, Pistol-Whipping Women

Tulsa police have arrested two men they say broke into a home, robbed and assaulted the women inside. The home invasion took place on Friday afternoon, December 4, 2015, in the 8900 block of East 16th Place.

Yorico Jones and Martellus Smith are in Tulsa County Jail on numerous counts including kidnapping, armed robbery, first-degree burglary and aggravated assault and battery.

Jones, 19, is being held on a $192,000 bond. The 18-year-old Smith is being held on a $98,500 bond. 

Police said they have a third person in custody being questioned.

Police say four men knocked on the front door of the home then forced their way in when someone opened it. The victims were a grandmother, mother and two girls.

The men tied then women up with extension cords and pistol whipped two of them. One of the victims, a 69-year-old woman was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Police say the beating broke bones in her face.

Then then ransacked the home, turning a couch over on all four victims before stealing the family's van. Police believe the family was chosen at random. 

An arrest report shows the men are also suspected in another robbery in the 700 block of North Evanston on December 7, 2015. An elderly woman and a man were in that home. They were forced to the ground and placed in handcuffs, police say.

Police said they used GPS on the 2013 Chevy Malibu taken from that home to track them down, records show.

According to police, after being read his rights Smith admitted to being involved in the home invasion on December 4, and police say they had property stolen from one of the residences.
