Craig County DA Shot Burglar In Chest, Documents Say

Court documents are giving us new details about a shooting involving a Craig County assistant district attorney.

Records say Erin Oquin seriously wounded Bryan Starkey Thursday by shooting him in the chest after deputies say he broke into her Inola home.

According to the records, Oquin also fired a shot at Starkey's car before he got in it as a way to mark it for identification.

A search warrant was issued for the car which was found about a mile away. Inside the vehicle, deputies said they found a phone and two chainsaws.

They also found a pistol grip shotgun right outside the driver's door, along with a rifle case and mobile WiFi unit.

A witness told investigators he saw Starkey throwing items out of the car before deputies arrived.

Deputies said those items were stolen from two nearby homes just before the break-in at Oquin's home.
