The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation released the name of a Westville officer and suspect involved in a crash Monday night.

According to a news release, an Adair County sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over a white Dodge Durango in Stilwell Monday night for a taillight not working.

OSBI said the driver, 35-year-old Brandon Dale Rowan, refused to pull over and the deputy chased him through Stilwell and into Westville. They said the suspect vehicle reached 110 miles an hour during the chase.

They said officers tried to stop the SUV at several intersections and, at least, one officer fired at the vehicle; no one was hit by the gunfire.

The release says at the intersection of Buffington and Highway 59, Westville officer Joshua Sidebottom was outside his vehicle and was struck by Rowan’s SUV. OSBI said Sidebottom was taken to a hospital in “critical but stable condition.”

Rowan was arrested a few miles north of the crash site, OSBI said.

Records show Rowan has a criminal history including eluding a police officer, kidnapping domestic assault and battery and more.

OSBI is investigating the incident and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is assisting with the crash investigation.

If you’d like to help Officer Sidebottom and his family, the Adair County Sheriff’s Office is selling t-shirts, a portion of which will be donated to help for medical and traveling costs.
