A Cleveland police officer was flown to a Tulsa hospital after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash Friday night.

According to Trooper Robert Regnier, the officer was eastbound on Highway 48 in a city patrol vehicle and failed to yield to southbound Highway 64 traffic and was hit. The trooper said the officer's vehicle went across an open field, a service road and ended up in a wooded ravine.

Most of the damage was to the driver's side.

Cleveland Chief Clint Stout confirmed an officer was involved in the three-vehicle crash. He told the Cleveland American, “The life of one of my officers is on the line.”

The chief identified the officer as Jeremiah Godfrey. Stout said Godfrey was traveling back from Ada where he was taking CLEET classes all week.

Godfrey was featured in a NewsOn6.com story in May when he lent assistance to an elderly couple.
