A convicted felon who shot at a bail bondsman and held officers at bay for more than 16 hours is finally back in jail.

Daniel Guy Harris, 46, barricaded himself inside a metal garage outside Yukon, and refused to communicate or come out. That is until the Oklahoma City police tact team used fire hoses to flush him out around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Oklahoma City officers had to block off the intersection of Ranchwood Blvd. and Yukon Parkway just after noon Tuesday, while they tried to negotiate with Harris.

Police say they tried to make contact with him more than 200 times before finally being forced to use other tactics to flush him out, including CS gas, OC spray, and finally water from two fire hoses.

Harris was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to show up at a court hearing for several drug charges. But when CJ's bondsmen showed up to bring him in, he started shooting at them. They fired back and called police for backup. Police say no one was injured during the exchange of gunfire.

The owner of CJ's Bail Bonds did not want to show his face on camera, but did agree to talk with us about his prior run-ins with Harris.

“He’s the type of guy I would have walked in by myself and said, ‘Hey, you messed up lets go,’” said CJ Knight.

Knight says he considered Harris to be an average, everyday guy who did not show any violent tendencies at all. Knight says back in July, Harris had a failure to appear, but he worked with bail bondsmen to take care of the situation.

This time was different - with Harris not only shooting at the bail bondsmen, but holing himself up with an arsenal of weapons - and shooting out the garage at least three separate times during the 16 hour standoff.

“I've never dreamed that this would have come out like this,” said Knight.

Several agencies including the Yukon Police, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and Canadian County Sheriff's Office assisted Oklahoma City police during the standoff with Harris.

For now, Harris is being held in the Oklahoma County Jail for the failure to appear warrant. He is also facing a hold for a complaint of shooting with intent to kill out of Canadian County for shooting at the bondsman. His bond is set at $130,000.

Oklahoma Department of Correction records show Harris was on probation after serving time in prison for a child abuse conviction back in 2010. He is expected to face several more felony charges - including possession of a firearm after former felony conviction.
