Tulsa Shootout Sets New Record For Race Entries

The 31st annual Speedway Motors Tulsa Shootout is underway at the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa. 

They set a new attendance record this year with more than 1,200 entrants, according to Bryan Hulbert, Tulsa Shootout.

"It's proof that the micro scene across the U.S. is alive and well," he said.

Dirt track racers from across the country and Canada are competing for the coveted Golden Driller trophy in several classes including winged and non-wing outlaws, sprints and midgets.  

Races started Wednesday and wind up Saturday night at the fairgrounds. The opening ceremony is set for 6 p.m.

The Chili Bowl Nationals is the next big racing event set for January 12-16.
