OU Football: Perine To Have Surgery On Ankle

Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine has been dealing with ankle injuries throughout most of his college playing career, and according to his Mom’s Facebook account, Perine will have surgery on Monday to help fix the issue.

Gloria Perine said this on her Facebook page: “Please continue to pray for my baby boy. He’ll have surgery on Monday to repair some torn ligaments in his left ankle… God is still in charge!”

Perine reinjured his ankle during the first drive of the second half in the Orange Bowl against Clemson. Despite being helped off the field in extreme pain, Perine returned to the game later in the half after backup running back Joe Mixon sustained a head injury.

Perine rushed for 1,349 yards on 226 carries and scored 17 total touchdowns this past season as the Sooners made it to the College Football Playoff.
