Tess is an award-winning journalist who joined News On 6 in March 2012. She’s an anchor and reporter for Six in the Morning. Tess is a proud Oklahoman, born and raised in El Reno. She always dreamed of working in the TV news business and is honored to have the opportunity work in her home state.

Tess graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in broadcast journalism. She started her career on-air as a college student, anchoring the evening and morning newscasts at a small TV station in Stillwater.

After college, Tess moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she worked for three years as a reporter and producer for 40/29 News, earning her two consecutive Associated Press awards for best 10 p.m. newscast. She also worked for a news station in Oklahoma City before making the move to Tulsa.

Tess has covered a number of major stories throughout the state. She witnessed two of the Oklahoma’s most notorious executions, she was on the scene during the devastating 2012 Creek County wildfires and she covered the aftermath of the deadly Moore tornado in 2013. Tess is assigned many light-hearted stories, as well. She is a gifted writer with a passion for sharing the stories of every day Oklahomans.

Tess connects easily with viewers in her down-to-earth approach of sharing news. Viewers voted Tess as Tulsa Press Club’s “Favorite Anchor/Reporter” in 2018 and 2015. The Tulsa Press Club also awarded Tess for “Best Use of Social Media by an Individual” in 2018.

In addition to her love of sharing the stories of Oklahomans, Tess is an avid outdoorswoman with a passion for hunting and fishing. In fact, she spends almost all her free time in the woods or on the water with her husband, Matt, and their little dog, Muffin.

Tess is the News On 6’s outdoor and wildlife reporter. She incorporates her love for the outdoors both on air and online. She hosts a daily “Outdoor Adventures With Tess” segment during the 4:30 a.m. newscast, featuring hunting and fishing pictures submitted by viewers (you can send yours here). And Tess shares many of her own hunting adventures with fans on Facebook and Instagram.

The most surprising fact about Tess is she noodles almost every day in the summer. That’s when someone catches catfish using just their hands. Her biggest catch to date is a 52-pound flathead. Tess went noodling for the first time during a story for News On 6 in 2012. A few weeks later, she met her husband on a different noodling adventure. Hand-fishing has been her favorite hobby ever since. And because of this, many viewers refer to her as “the noodling news reporter.”

A few of Tess’ other favorite things include spending time with her mom, nieces and nephew. And, of course, cheering on her Oklahoma State Cowboys. If you see Tess out, be sure to stop and say hello!
