There was talk of the Orange seats at Gallagher-Iba Arena being filled with Crimson and Cream, but instead, it was a raucous crowd of Oklahoma State fans watching their Cowboys take on the No. 2 team in the nation down to the last possession thanks to freshman Jawun Evans 42-point game.

"My teammates just gave me confidence at the start of the game,” said Evans. “They just said, ‘this is your type of game,’ so coaches just put in the plays and I just got inside. You know, I'm just getting in the type of environment of the game so it's just getting better for me."

OSU head coach Travis Ford says Evans has an unbelievable feel for the game. “He's knows when to score, when to pass,” Ford explained. “I do not have to tell him to get his."

The Sooners stressed that they expected a competitive Bedlam game and they got one.

Buddy Hield finished with 20 points in the first half and was held to six in the second.

"[We] got into some bad situations, bad spots with the ball, but he's a smart player and he'll be fine," said OU head coach Lon Kruger.

Hield says he didn’t let the game come to him in the final half like he did the first and that he let the Cowboys get to him. “Just got to do a better job of being strong with the ball and driving and kicking to my teammates instead of over attacking with the ball, but I'll be fine."

Sooner guard Jordan Woodard stated that every game in the Big 12 is tough. “You're not going to play perfect basketball every game so you just got to be able to fight," he said.

And the Big 12 grind continues as OU faces a defensive minded West Virginia team next while OSU will head to Texas to take on the Longhorns.
