The Thunder will hold its eighth annual Military Appreciation Night on Wednesday, Jan. 20, as the team takes on the Charlotte Hornets. The game tips off at 7 p.m. at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Events honoring the nation’s troops and our veterans will include in-game recognition of military personnel, an exclusive T-shirt offer and more.

Military personnel and families will be in attendance at Wednesday’s game, thanks to Thunder Season Ticket members who are choosing to donate their tickets for the night. In addition, more than 100 children of military personnel, identified by the Airman and Family Readiness Center, will be able to attend the game through player-donated tickets as part of the team’s Tickets for Kids program.

Prior to the game, Chaplain (Capt.) Joseph Baker of the Will Rogers Air National Guard Base will lead the invocation, and members of Honoring America’s Warriors will present the colors. The national anthem will be performed by Air Force Staff Sgt. Ashley Osborn. The halftime presentation will feature Southeast High School’s women’s silent drill team, ranked top-five nationally.

#THUNDERSALUTE: Prior to and during Wednesday’s game, the Thunder is asking fans to submit photos of themselves or their loved ones in service to our country. The photos will be displayed in the arena on Wednesday to honor service members and veterans from all branches. Fans can submit photos on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #ThunderSalute.

Fans will have the opportunity to purchase a commemorative Military Night T-shirt for $15 at the Thunder Shop outside Section 120 on Wednesday night. With each of these T-shirts purchased, a Thunder T-shirt will be donated to our troops protecting our freedom. The same offer applies to the 2016 Thunder Girls calendar; for every calendar purchased for $15 in-arena or at okcthunder.com/shop, a second calendar will be donated to our troops. Both offers will also be available at select merchandise locations throughout the arena, while supplies last.

The Thunder will collect and mail postcards of support to troops stationed abroad. During the game, fans can stop by tables outside Sections 102, 318 and 322 to write messages of thanks and encouragement; the Thunder will send these postcards to servicemen and servicewomen currently serving overseas.
