Shawnee police searched for an armed person Sunday near Oklahoma Baptist University, the university reported.

Law enforcement officers are looking for Brice Winrow, 32, is a black man, is about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 243 pounds, police said.

Winrow was last seen wearing a red shirt, jeans and a red and black hat.

The university evacuated the Coates Baseball-Softball Building and the rest of the campus was been placed under a lockdown.

Classes at OBU will start at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Kenny Day, OBU spokesman, said the university went into lockdown as a precautionary measure.

Shawnee police told News 9 they were chasing a person in the area of W 39th Street and Kickapoo Street.

A police officer tried to pull over a reckless driver. The vehicle turned out to be stolen and the woman inside the vehicle may have been a victim of a carjacking, Shawnee Sgt. Dan Shumaker said.

Winrow had just been arraigned on another stolen vehicle complaint, Shumaker said.

OBU police said an armed person was seen entering the north part of the campus and has not been found.

Shawnee police said they think Winrow is armed with a handgun.

Tactical teams and K-9 units are searching the area by grids. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol helicopter is using thermal imaging to try to find the suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to call Shawnee police at (405) 273-2121.
