What makes Oklahoma special? We think it’s got to be the people. And we meet some amazing people in our stories. Here’s another example.

PEOPLE WHO INSPIRE.

Sarah Rodriguez knows about struggles. Years ago, Sarah and her husband Joel struggled with infertility. The couple finally welcomed a son through in vitro fertilization. But when Milo was one, cancer took his father’s life. A second IVF procedure later gave Sarah a baby girl, Ellis. But doctors feared she wouldn’t make it after the infant contracted bacterial meningitis. Then, another miracle. Sarah and Joel’s baby daughter lived.

In spite of the hardship and loss, Sarah chose to celebrate her blessings. So to honor her husband’s memory, Sarah declared the anniversary of Joel’s death, July 23rd, “Random Acts of Kindness Day.” The idea took off. Now, families across the country are doing the same. Hundreds of people who will never know Sarah, who will never know her loss, are blessed by a stranger - because of her.
