At least one person was killed when a crane collapsed in New York City Friday morning, according to the fire department.
Two other people were in critical condition, the fire department told CBS News.
The collapse happened in the Tribeca neighborhood in lower Manhattan. The crane appeared to have landed on several parked cars and video from the scene shows mangled metal and debris strewn across the road.
Part of the crane could be seen wedged up against a building.
The FDNY said 138 firefighters from more than 33 units are on the scene.
A number of streets in lower Manhattan are closed and officials are inspecting a nearby six-story office building, for possible damage.
