TULSA, Oklahoma -

A Tulsa homeowner said his dog woke him Sunday morning as smoke filled his bedroom. The fire started just after  a.m. in a home at 15th and Delaware Place.

The man told News On 6 he left a candle burning, then woke up to his dog pawing at him and his mattress on fire. He called the fire department after trying to get the fire out himself.

"She's fine; she made it out," said Andrew McDonald said of his pet. "I'm well - under the circumstances."

At least seven Tulsa fire companies responded to the house fire. Smoke filled the midtown Tulsa neighborhood.

The fire was quickly contained, and no one at the duplex was hurt.
