A 14-year-old boy died Tuesday morning after a mobile home went up in flames in the Summers community in Washington County, according to a member of the teen’s family.

The boy’s family said Taylan Taylor was a student at Lincoln High School and was home alone because his father had gone to work, reports KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fayetteville.

Lincoln High School Superintendent Mary Ann Spears confirmed a young man died overnight and counselors and ministers were brought to Lincoln High School Tuesday morning.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the mobile home on Anderson Road around 2 a.m. The fire marshal said a family member living in a home across the street noticed the fire and called 911. A family member also told 5NEWS he had heard an explosion.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to police.
