Officers say a homeowner shot and killed a man during a home invasion in the 200 block of East Queen Street early Friday.

Police Sgt. Dave Walker says police got a call from a woman who lives in the house at about 12:15 a.m.

Walker said a man had knocked on the front door and asked to use the phone. He used a handgun to hold and the man and woman in the home at bay and started gathering items to steal.

The man who lives there got his own handgun, Walker said, and shot the suspect. He says the intruder then stumbled out of the home and collapsed at the corner of Queen and Cheyenne. Police said that's where they found his body.

Walker said detectives have conducted interviews but have made no arrests.

Police say the dead man may be connected to a burglary incident in the 1600 block of North Denver early Thursday morning in which a man armed with a handgun fired shots into the air.

Walker said that robber matches the description from Friday's home invasion. He says they are also looking into the possibility the intruder may have had an accomplice.

Friday's homicide is the fifth one this year in Tulsa.
