Wisconsin Man Injured After Van Hits Horse In Craig County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Wisconsin man is in a Joplin hospital after his van hit a horse on a Craig County highway early Tuesday.  

Troopers said the crash happened on Highway 2 south of Welch just after 1 a.m.  They said David Westmoreland, 43, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin was headed south when his GMC van struck the horse.  The impact caused the van to leave the highway, crash through a fence before stopping about 200 feet off the road.

The OHP says Westmoreland was flown by helicopter to the Missouri hospital with head, leg and internal injuries.
