Police believe a child care dispute ended with a shooting Monday evening near Apache and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Officers said just before 6:40 p.m., police were called to the 200 block of East Young Street because of reports of shots fired. Outside the home, police found a man who had been shot once in the buttocks.

Police said from their initial investigation, they learned a woman arrived at the home to assume custody of her granddaughter, and the woman's daughter wouldn't allow it. They said at some point, a man in the house got a shotgun and confronted another man outside the home who was also armed.

Officers said after an exchange of gunfire, the man outside the home was shot once.

EMSA took the victim to the hospital with what they said was non-life threatening injuries.

No one else was injured, and police said so far, no one has been arrested. Authorities are still investigating.
