Super Tuesday: Republican Candidates Vie For Oklahoma

During Super Tuesday, voters across the country have cast their ballots for who they want to be the next U.S. president.

The polls closed at 7:00 p.m. in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma numbers are still being calculated, but as of 8:00 p.m. Ted Cruz is leading Donald Trump 33 percent to 31 percent in the Oklahoma precincts. CBS News projects Cruz to win Texas and Trump to win Georgia and Virginia. Marcio Rubio trails with 24 percent. 

Although these are early calculations, the numbers go against the results of our News On 6 poll.

An exclusive News On 6 poll shows that out of 540 likely Republican voters, 34 percent support Trump, 21 percent pick Marco Rubio and 18 percent back Ted Cruz. Ben Carson has nine percent, John Kasich has six percent and 13 percent say they're undecided.

Trump has led in the polls for six months, according to our pollster Ben Carson. The only shakeup is among who's in second.

Trump’s latest visit to Oklahoma was February 26 in OKC where he rallied for voters and spoke to a crowd of thousands. He also made a stop in Tulsa prior to that.

Rubio hosted a rally at Jenks High School on Monday where he shared his vision of America. This past weekend, Cruz made an appearance in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Carson hasn’t visited Oklahoma since late October of 2015. His visit was brief, but he still drew quite the crowd at his book signing at Barnes and Noble. Kasich has not been to Oklahoma.
