There aren’t many games that can be won when a team has more turnovers than assists, and the Spurs 93-85 win over the Thunder on Saturday night is a great example of just that as the Thunder totaled 19 turnovers compared to 18 helpers.

San Antonio trailed by seven points late in the third quarter, but the Spurs was able to flip the script when it mattered most down the stretch. Manu Ginobili drained a couple of free throws to ignite a 9-4 Spurs’ run to close out the frame and get within two points going into the fourth.

After a Kevin Durant slam capped a quick 4-0 OKC run to start the quarter, things went south quickly for the Thunder. San Antonio was able to tie the game at 74-74 by the 8:45 mark, and then the Spurs really began to pour it on.

Kawhi Leonard hit a jumper to give the Spurs the lead, and then 3-pointers by both Danny Green and Leonard put the Spurs up 82-76 and finished off a fierce 16-to-4 run.

Oklahoma City showed adequate effort on both sides of the ball, but the Thunder yet again fell victim of too much isolation basketball in the fourth quarter, and a defensively disciplined team like the Spurs used that to its advantage.

Durant hit a running jumper off of one foot to bring the Thunder within four points at 85-81, but that was as close as the Thunder would get as Leonard knocked down a pair of jumpers to seal the San Antonio win.

Leonard was tremendous for the Spurs, as he showcased both his elite offensive and defensive capabilities while finishing with 26 points and seven rebounds. Leonard may have closed out the win for San Antonio, but it was LaMarcus Aldridge who was on fire early on and tallied 24 points and nine rebounds.

Durant led the Thunder with 28 points and eight assists, while Russell Westbrook added 19 points and seven helpers. Westbrook had his fair share of miscues as well, with nine of OKC’s 19 turnovers. Enes Kanter was a bright spot in the loss with 11 points and 17 rebounds in 28 minutes of action.

OKC will have a chance to avenge the loss in two weeks when they host the Spurs on March 26. The Thunder will be back in action on Monday when they play the Trailblazers inside of Chesapeake Energy Arena.

OKC got away with 19 turnovers in the opener but not 2-nite, too many missed 3's & another question mark down the stretch #News9Thunder
