Rogers, Wagoner Counties Near Top In 2016 Health Rankings

MADISON, Wisconsin -

A new report finds that Kingfisher County is the healthiest county in Oklahoma, while Jefferson County is considered the state's unhealthiest.

The report was released Wednesday by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

It found that Kingfisher[1], Cleveland[2], Canadian[3], Rogers[4], Roger Mills[5], Logan[6], Ellis[7], Wagoner[8], Texas[9] and Woods[10] counties were the state's healthiest, based on quality of life and longevity.

Tulsa County was ranked 20th, while Oklahoma County was 28th.

58. Cherokee County 
50. Craig County 
49. Creek County 
53. Delaware County 
33. Mayes County
63. Muskogee County
32. Nowata County
59. Okmulgee County
19. Osage County 
52. Pawnee County 
54. Pittsburg County
17. Washington County

Jefferson[77], Adair[76], Choctaw[75], McIntosh[74] and Johnston[73] counties were named the five least healthy counties, based on the same measures.

The study also ranked each county on "health factors" that include tobacco use, diet and exercise and access to medical care, among other factors. Canadian County was ranked highest based on those measures, while Adair County was ranked lowest.
