TULSA, Oklahoma -

Only a handful of cities can brag about having a world-renowned ballet company, and Tulsa is one of them.

Tulsa Ballet will tour Italy next month, but first, they'll perform at home on March 18-20.

News On 6 got a first look at their show, Masters of Dance, during a dress rehearsal Thursday. The work is a three-piece ballet that the company has performed before.

In two weeks, the dancers will pack up and jet off to Italy on a nearly sold-out tour. They'll hold seven performances in Trieste, Udine, Mestre, Vicenza, Gorizia, Perugia and Brindisi.

Artistic Director Marcello Angelini said going on tour is the company's chance to show the world what Tulsa's all about.

"People all over the world know this company," Angelini said. "We are an international entity based in Tulsa, and every time we go out, we are representing our city."

This is Tulsa's Ballet fourth international tour. Italy will be the company's fifth country in which it has performed.

Masters of Dance has three parts that couldn't be more difficult: Classical Symphony is an active, lively piece full of partner work; Petite Morts is meant to be funny but also incredibly athletic; and then there's Rooster, which is set to music by the Rolling Stones.

Each piece is just as unique and beautiful as Tulsa itself.

"I always say, when we go out of the city, 'Ballet is what we do. Tulsa is who we are,'" Angelini said.

You can find more information about Masters of Dance online.
