One Dead In Midtown Tulsa Apartment Complex Fire

Tulsa Fire says a man is dead, another resident is in critical condition in the hospital after a fire at an apartment complex early Thursday.

Firefighters were called to the Royal Arms Apartments in the 5100 block of South Madison just west of Peoria and south of I-44 at around 1 a.m.  Fire officials say at least 16 apartments in the complex were damaged by the fire.

Among the 50 responding firefighters, one was taken to the hospital after receiving an electrical shock. Two other firefighters were also transported to the hospital after they were injured when a balcony collapsed.

No word yet on what started the fire or the name of the man who died.  

The Red Cross is still on scene assisting apartment residents.
