TULSA, Oklahoma - A woman captured dramatic photos of the tornado that tore across Tulsa and nearby communities as she took off in a jetliner.

Tina Strickland was on Southwest flight 1838 to Dallas when she took the photos.

The flight was scheduled to leave Tulsa at 4:35 p.m. on Wednesday, but didn't get airborne until a few minutes after 7 o'clock.

She said the tornado sirens were going off as passengers boarded the plane for the flight.

She said a girl behind her refused to get on the plane.

Moments after the plane left the ground, Strickland saw the tornado on the ground just to the west of the airport and took the photos.
