As Wednesday night’s storm rolled on toward Claremore, it destroyed several homes along the way.

The couple who lives in one of those homes spent years working for Oklahoma's Disaster Dog relief team.

They've been on the scene of some of the state's most devastating disasters. This is the first time they've been on the other side of the storm, and even though their house is destroyed, they're feeling pretty lucky.

“I can't explain it,” John Hnath said.

They are dealing with the destruction a tornado left behind.

“We were pretty much just in a state of shock,” Hnath said.

It made for an even longer day for John Hnath and his wife.

“That was a guest room,” he said. “This was my music room.”

The couple wasn't home when the storm blew through Wednesday night.

They made it back not long after it had passed to find the tornado took part of the roof, but amazingly, it did not take or even touch the nine collectible guitars hanging on the wall.

“When I opened that door, almost make you want to cry, ya know,” Hnath said.

His guitars are now back in their cases and in a safe place.

And outside his home, debris is at every turn his backyard torn apart.

“I'm shocked,” Hnath said. “But I'm so delighted.”

The backyard is where two of the Hnath's dogs...Koko and Franky...rode out the storm -- they, too, made it out alive without a scrape on them.

“They were back here,” Hnath said. “That's the dog house. How did they do that? How did they survive?”

And just like his two pets are OK, Hnath says he will be, too.

“It’s all just stuff. We survived,” he said. “That's what's important, who cares? We'll rebuild. We'll be fine.”
