The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an Oklahoma City man died after he lost control of his motorcycle and was hit by a RV in Cherokee County Friday afternoon.

Troopers said the crash happened just before 4 p.m. on Highway 62 in Cherokee County about four miles east of Tahlequah.

The OHP report states Fred J. Sumpter, 51, was eastbound when he lost control of his 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle, crossed the center line and was struck by a westbound 2008 Winnebago RV, driven by David Blankenship, 52, of Belton, Missouri.

Troopers said neither Blankenship or his passenger were injured in the collision.

Sumpter, who was not wearing a helmet, according to the OHP, was pronounced dead at the scene.
