A Tulsa County Deputy was flagged down by a man who says someone showed him a gun, according to TCSO Captain Melissa Tapper.

The man didn't point the gun but scared the person he showed it to, she said.

TCSO said that person flagged down a deputy working an off-duty assignment. The victim told authorities the man with the gun wouldn't let them close their car door.

Deputies say once they spotted the man at the QuikTrip at 31st and Sheridan, he jumped in his vehicle and took off. A chase started back to the man's home near 21st and Sheridan.

Deputies and Tulsa Police set up a perimeter around the man's house. Tapper said the man walked out at one point with the weapon then went back inside.

"We're very thankful; it was very quiet," Tapper said. "It was very safe, from everything I saw. We all made every effort to keep this from becoming any kind of issue for the neighbors and for the deputies and officers involved."

The captain said they decided to pull back and did not take the man into custody.

She said they will do some paperwork and send the case to the District Attorney's office for a possible arrest as the man is a convicted felon.
