A groundskeeper at OU-Tulsa rescued a great horned owl from a life-threatening situation.

Mitch Braden found the owl with its wings tangled in a net on a soccer goal on Monday.

Relying on his extensive wildlife experience, Braden covered the owl with his hoodie so it wouldn’t be frightened then freed it from the net.

Braden then took the owl to Forest Trails Animal Hospital where the staff gave the exhausted bird an IV.

The owl stayed overnight at “Wing It” Rehabilitation where it was nicknamed "Professor Owl." On Tuesday afternoon Professor Owl was released back home at OU-Tulsa.
