Teenage Boy On Go-Cart Killed In Pontotoc County Crash

A 13-year-old boy was killed late Monday when his homemade go-cart was struck by a pickup in Byng.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene by Mercy EMS personnel, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report. Kyle Cox, a 24-year-old Byng resident, was driving the 2002 Dodge pickup. He wasn't hurt.

Troopers say that Cox was driving southbound on CR-99 around 9:30 p.m. when the teen drove his go-cart into the road. The teen, who was not identified due to his age, wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
