Some showers and storms moved across the area late last night through the overnight hours and is now located in Arkansas.   The timing may work out in our favor today.   We should dry out for most of the day before out next (and final) wave for this storm system brushes the state.   We should see improving conditions Thursday afternoon into most of the weekend with temperatures eventually moving into the lower 80s Saturday and Sunday.   We're almost finished with our current upper level system that has been influencing our weather for several days.   And the light at the end of the tunnel is going to be some sunshine.

WARN Interactive Radar

This morning we find some clouds and cool temperatures lingering across eastern OK after last night’s showers and storms moved across the area.   Temperatures in the upper 50s will move into the lower 70s later today along with north winds around 10 mph.   The clouds may finally break allowing some partly to mostly sunny conditions at midday to early afternoon before more clouds arrive later tonight.

The main upper level trough that has been cut-off from the flow for the past several days is now ejecting into the central plains.   A portion of the system will break lose and rotate around the back side of the system and move across part of western OK Wednesday night into Thursday morning with additional storms developing ahead of this feature.   A few of the storms may be severe across far southwestern OK and north TX but the bulk of this activity will remain to our southwest.   We’ll include a mention for showers and storms late Wednesday night into Thursday morning but this probability will remain low.   My current timing would be from approximately midnight to 8am Thursday.  After Thursday morning, a quiet and calm weather pattern will ensue for the state, at least for a few days, before another system may impact the state by early next week.   But this system also remains inconsistent in the various models and therefore will have only low probabilities for storms late Sunday night into Monday.   We may need to expand the chances into the middle of the week but will tackle that issue in the next day or so.  At this point, it appears next Wednesday could support an increasing chance of storms that may be severe.

Thanks for reading the Wednesday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
