A memorial service was held Saturday morning for a Tulsa man who had been fighting pancreatic cancer and recently received his Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma.

Last month, News On 6 featured Michael Surbaugh in a story about his unique graduation ceremony at a Broken Arrow assisted living center.

Dr. Surbaugh died on April 19.  He was diagnosed with cancer in February.

A service honoring his life was held Saturday at the Parish Church of St. Jerome in Tulsa.
