The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Subcommittees announced Tuesday the selection of the 64 teams and 16 first and second round sites for the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Championships.

First- and second-round competition takes place May 13-14 or May 14-16 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus, where the final 16 teams for the men and women will compete for the national championship May 20-24.

The singles and doubles portion of the tournament will take place May 25-30. The individual selections will be posted on www.ncaa.com by 5 p.m. (CT), tomorrow, Wednesday, May 4.

Thirty-two conferences received automatic qualification into the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship. California, with a 19-1 overall record, enters the tournament as the No.1 overall seed and will host the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) in first round play. Florida is the No. 2 seed and comes into the championship event with a 21-2 record after having won the SEC Championship. The 29-2 North Carolina Tar Heels is the No. 3 seed, followed by No. 4 seed Ohio State (28-4) and No. 5 seed Georgia (20-4).

The remaining top 16 seeds for the women's championship are: defending national champion and No. 6 seed Vanderbilt (19-5), #7 Miami (19-5), #8 Pepperdine (21-2), #9 Duke (18-6), #10 Michigan (20-6), #11 Auburn (22-7), #12 Oklahoma State (24-4), #13 South Carolina (18-7), #14 Virginia (16-10), #15 Stanford (14-5) and #16 Texas Tech (23-5).

A total of 31 teams received automatic qualification into the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship while 33 teams earned at-large invitations.

The men's championship bracket is headlined by No. 1-seed Virginia, as the Cavaliers will take on Monmouth in first round action. Virginia has a 24-4 record this season and has won two of the last three national titles, capturing the championship in 2013 and 2015.

Fellow ACC foe North Carolina is the No. 2 seed after compiling an overall 25-4 record, but it was the NCAA tournament's No. 6 seed Wake Forest Demon Deacons (29-5) that won the ACC Championship title with a 4-3 win over Virginia. The No. 3 seed is 16-time champion UCLA with a 22-2 record this year, as the Bruins are making their 40th national appearance. TCU is the No. 4 seed with a 24-3 record and the No. 5 seed is 30-2 Ohio State.

Rounding out the top-16 seeds for the men are: #7 Georgia (20-4), #8 Texas Tech (27-5), #9 Florida (18-6), #10 Southern Cal (15-6), #11 Oklahoma (15-10), #12 Texas A&M (25-9), #13 California (17-6), #14 Northwestern (25-4), #15 Illinois (19-10) and #16 Oklahoma State (18-7).

2008 women's title was won by UCLA with a 4-0 victory over Cal.
